Top Tips for Benefit Renewals and Open Enrollment 2021 from Robert DeNinno

Robert DeNinno Jr., Principal of the Philadelphia based Precision Benefits Group penned his first article for the Philadelphia Business Journal as a member of the Philadelphia Business Journal Leadership Trust titled, Top benefit renewal and open enrollment tips for 2021. In the article, Rob provides numerous tips and tricks for handling your hectic benefit renewal and open enrollment period.

In regards to a benefit renewal timeline, Deninno said, “As with anything worth doing in life, preparation is key to success. I recommend you have a written renewal timeline in place that includes your action items, the responsible party (e.g., you, the consultant or carrier), and the due date of each item.”

“For all of my Philadelphia Eagles fans, just as a coach refers to a play-calling sheet (or Nick Foles) to win the Super Bowl, refer to your renewal timeline as your formalized game plan for renewal and open enrollment success,” said DeNinno.

Rob also shared his sentiments on how technology and digital data has impacting employee benefits and open enrollment, saying, “We all know everything is going digital and that includes benefits administration. I suggest incorporating a multimedia open enrollment that can help make that period more accessible for employees and more efficient for you. Making sure that you have a functional human resource information system (HRIS) platform that allows you to engage your employees digitally should be a main priority.”
